Induce a labor at home in comfort. Pregnancies are usually calculated to last 40 weeks however, seven out of 10 pregnancies go over the 40 week mark and want too induce labor at home.

Generally by the time a woman - has been carrying around the equivalent of two sacks of potatoes on her belly for the last couple of months; hasn’t seen her toes for a while and just has to assume they are still there; is not comfortable sleeping on her side, her back or her stomach and can’t perfect sleeping standing up and the sight of her behind with all its new dimples and flesh brings tears to her eyes – she wants the baby out. Oh yeah and she wants to cuddle her little bundle of joy too.

Luckily, there are several natural ways that a mommy-to-be can induce labor at home. Not all of the methods work for everyone, but they are worth a shot and one or two of them are actually quite fun to induce labor at home.

One of the most common ways induce labor at home is to do lots of exercise such as walking briskly around the block or climbing up and down the stairs. It is thought that this can bring the baby’s head down into the cervix ready to come out.

Do what got you in this predicament in the first place. Having sex is said to an effective way to induce labor at home. Sex can release a hormone called Oxytocin, which causes the uterus to contract. Semen also contains prostaglandins which help to soften the cervix.

For those that find sex too uncomfortable at this stage of the pregnancy or cannot have sex due to medical reasons related to the pregnancy nipple stimulation may be the answer. It helps to bring on labor in the same way that sex does, by releasing Oxytocin.

Acupressure has also been found to be a very effective way to induce a labor at home. There are several points on a woman’s body that will help to bring on labor by softening the cervix, encouraging the baby to shift down into the cervix and by stimulating uterine contractions. Most women who use acupressure go into labor within 48 hours.

There are also several herbal teas; herbal preparations and homeopathic remedies that may work to induce labor at home. These should only be used upon the recommendation of an appropriately qualified and experienced health practitioner who is familiar with your individual history and circumstances.
